HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Welcomes You to HealthCare.gov

By Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services

Posted July 02, 2010

Welcome to www.HealthCare.gov, a website we designed to help you, your family, your business, your parents and grandparents, and your neighbors and friends get the information you need to make the best choices about your health care.

Using our Insurance Options Finder, you can, for the first time through a single tool, identify both the private and the public health coverage options available in your local community.  Through the Health Finder tool, you can find tips to help improve your health and prevent disease.  In the “Information for You” section, you can learn more about your rights as a consumer in the health insurance marketplace and upcoming changes that will benefit you.

Since we launched HealthCare.gov yesterday, it has received half a million page views as people have checked in to see what the site is all about.  Many of you have stayed a while, clicking through the site to find the information you need, and learning about the options that are best for you.

One very important feature of the site is the tool that allows you and other visitors to give us feedback, and we are so excited by the comments and suggestions that we have received to date.  Here are a few of the comments and suggestions we have already received:

“I love the idea of the video to make it easy for novices to get an introduction to the site.”

“This page told me what I’ve been waiting for.  Thank you-Thank you-Thank you.”

“I’m an insurance agent and this information seems to be very valuable for my clients. We will send out many e-mails with links for people who have been denied insurance in the past.”

“Love this timeline! Thanks for streamlining and making it user-friendly!!!”

“Add more video content so seniors do not have to read so much text on this web site. Great web site, thank you.”

“It’s very clearly laid out, which is key. It’s also informative without cheerleading, which is good.”

“Love it!  It makes the choices less overwhelming!”

“I initially came to the site out of curiosity and will now return, because I found helpful information.”

“So far, so good.”

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to leave a comment.  We truly appreciate your feedback and suggestions.  And, after a well deserved rest this weekend to celebrate the Fourth of July, our hardworking www.HealthCare.gov team will be back at work next week working to make the site even stronger.

We hope you will come back often – www.HealthCare.gov is designed to be a powerful tool for consumers like you, and we are going to keep working to make sure it gives you the information you need.
