Affordability exemption

An exemption thatโ€™s needed when applying for Catastrophic coverage for people 30 years or older whose coverage is unaffordable. Affordability exemptions are one type of exemption that someone can claim to qualify for Catastrophic Coverage, along with hardship exemptions.
You can qualify for an affordability exemption if the lowest-priced coverage available to you, through either a Marketplace or job-based plan, would cost more than 7.97% of your household income.
