2020 taxes & the Health Insurance Marketplaceยฎ

No health coverage for 2020

Unlike in past tax years, if you didnโ€™t have coverage during 2020, the fee no longer applies. This means you donโ€™t need an exemption in order to avoid the penalty.
Notice:
Important: Some states have their own individual health insurance mandate
If you live in a state that requires you to have health coverage and you donโ€™t have coverage (or an exemption), youโ€™ll be charged a fee when you file your 2020 state taxes. Check with your state or tax preparer.
You will NOT get Form 1095-A unless you or someone in your household had Marketplace coverage for all or part of 2020.
